Remember the lighting system composed of 6 x CR-60 units that we introduced last week? The photos below show the tank which adopts this lighting system. The dimension of this newly built tank is 75cm x 75cm x 42cm. The owner of this tank is a reefer who has serveral years experience on keeping SPS corals. He used to believe that SPS corals could only grow and display the best under the illumination of metal halide and/or T5 lamps. However, the high power consumption of the traditional lighting fixtures has made him to re-consider the lighting source when he decided to build a new SPS-dominant tank about three months ago. After seeing our ComboRay series products from pH8.4 forum, he realised that this new products might be a possible candidate to replace his traditional lighting system. He dicussed a lot with us on how he plan to set up the tank and the rockscape for this new tank. He was also interested in testing the fesibility of using only LED lights on growing SPS corals. We helped him to install the whole lighting system on last Saturday. According to him, the light brightness is about the same level of the old 2 x 250W metal halide lamps judged by naked eyes. He was also suprised with the effect of the actinic lights that we suggested (400nm+420nm+450nm LEDs). We are quite exciting about the future of this tank. More SPS will be brought into this tank soon. We will keep you posted with the latest condition of this tank in the coming future.
